More than 1,000 people attended a rally at Fort Lauderdale City Hall protesting the passage of Amendment 2 in Florida and Proposition 8 in California, which discriminates against LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender/transsexual ) people in The United States of America.

The protests were part of the “Join the Impact” [link] campaign to have a synchronized reaction of outrage across the country because of the passage of laws in Arizona, California and Florida defining marriage as an institution between a man and a woman only.

Proposition 8 in California and Amendment 2 in Florida have become a symbol of the struggle for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender rights. It is also argued the laws will restrict rights to heterosexuals who are domestic partners and not married.

great capture of such an important event!
I hope the government opens their eyes and sees that they're discriminating in a nation that claims to be accepting of everyone!

This is amazing.

America can't claim to be a free country if it doesn't allow its people the fundamental right to freedom of choice (albeit in terms of whom they fall in love with).

This is just brilliant. I don't even live in America and I'm straight, but I'm still outraged by Prop 8. Its so discriminative.

Oh, yeah...I've heard of that...
That's so messed up!
I heard that it got passed and me and my friends got seriously pissed off, I don't see why everyone has to be so bloody intolerant, everyone is human, no matter their sexuality is! If their gonna judge people by who they love or wanna be with, than they should start judging people by their eye and hair color...oh...wait...I think Hitler already did that...my bad....

The Bible was written by many different people, and fair enough it does say that, but not once in the Bible does it state ANYTHING about Jesus Himself preaching against gays. Also, did it occur to you that the Bible also says that God is an all forgiving God, and that he loves everyone? Guess not...
:icondougdforbes:
The bible also promotes ritual human sacrifice, promotes rape, promotes sexism, promotes slavery (my personal favorite, the right to sell your daughter to slavery), promotes justified murder, blunders in hypocrisy and major contradiction, promotes genocide, promotes ignorance, has a talking snake, has some dude that saved over a million species of land animals on a wooden boat (sorry, are willy willy big wooden boat) and put them all back in the right spot, and says anybody that works on sunday has to be stoned to death.

Believe in what you will. But don't use the bible as a truth in absolute judgment on social matters; it's stupid.

When I found out that prop 8 passed, I cried. I recently moved to California, and shortly before moving, my mom told me they had made gay marriage legal! I was SO happy! And then? This. It'll be a long, hard road, but I'm willing to fight for it. I'm not Christian, but if I had a Christian girlfriend, and she wanted to be MARRIED? Then by the Gods will, I will fight for that with my heart and soul.
