Description
Today was the protest of the Organization of American States in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. I was not expecting as big a group as the one that showed. I was also not expecting the largest group of protesters to be Haitians. The Haitians made a decent sized showing at the last protest I went to, but nothing like this! The police securing the scene were from just about every municipal and county police department in South Florida. The City of Miami police seemed to have the largest group. The great majority of police were in regular uniforms. It was not till the group of protesters entered into the people corral that the police dressed in their storm trooper costumes arrived. Everyone was on their best behavior and nothing out of the ordinary occurred. Tomorrow President George W. Bush will be in Ft. Lauderdale and more protesting will be taking place in the same area. I took several hundred shots today. It was not easy narrowing them down, but I think I did pretty well without boring anyone with similar shots.
