I've been out making many new photos and this afternoon have a big event I'll be photographing too! As soon as I can give my computer a little time I'll start editing the photos and get them posted to deviantART Last night I re-watched James Nachtwey win the 2007 TED Prize and was again moved in a very big way! I recommend you watch it too, even if you've already seen it... Here is the LINK www.ted.com/talks/james_nachtw…
I've been away from dA for a little bit but I'm back! Expect to see a lot of my photography from the last couple years that I haven't posted yet as well as current projects I'm working on now... Please add me on Facebook if you follow my work as it is something I keep updated daily The link for Facebook is listed below!
I'll be taking a lil' two week photo vacation in Oregon starting Monday! I can't wait If any of you PDXers know of anything cool to photograph or a cool event to shoot, please tell me all about it!
A little over two years ago I created a photography club for local people that had a passion for photography and named it South Florida Camera Club. I started holding these meetings in an art gallery in Fort Lauderdale called UNCOMMON Gallery, and twice a month we'd hold meetings. The first meeting of every month was reserved for a special guest speaker that was a successful pro photographer. The second meeting of the month was when we'd have our photographic competition based on a theme for that month. We'd also have Photoshop classes taught by our resident Photoshop guru. At least once a month we also plan a club fieldtrip to photograph a local event or area of interest. Since then we've grown quite a bit and as of this writing I have 147 paid members
The friends I've made since starting this club have been the biggest benefit of the club. I've also learned so much about photography, and been inspired by the many speakers we've had. Being part of an online art community like deviantART is wonderful, but nothing beats the personal interaction with people a local club offers. I highly recommend everyone that reads this look into clubs in their area, and if you don't have one in your area or don't like the way your local club is run, create it yourself. Please take a look at my club's website to see how we work. southfloridacameraclub.com
